About MKL Mining
A Congolese company giving local mining businesses access to the capital they need to deliver their contracts.
Why we exist
Large mining companies in the DRC outsource a significant share of their work to subcontractors: earthworks, hauling, ore transport, maintenance, site services.
Congolese subcontracting law (Law No. 17/001 of 8 February 2017) in principle reserves these activities for companies with majority Congolese capital. Qualified local companies therefore win contracts.
But a contract alone does not get work started. It takes machines, fuel and wages paid before the first invoice. Without capital, profitable contracts stay out of reach.
MKL Mining was created to close that gap: identify serious companies, verify their opportunities and bring them together with investors, within a formal and transparent framework.
Mission
Connect qualified mining subcontractors in the DRC with private investors and strategic partners through structured partnerships.
Vision
A strong Congolese subcontracting ecosystem, financed on clear terms, creating jobs and skills right next to the mines.
What guides our work
Rigor
Every opportunity goes through due diligence before it is presented to an investor.
Transparency
Amounts, responsibilities, risks and returns are written down in a formal agreement.
Local roots
We know the ground, the companies and the operating realities of Congolese mining.
Lasting partnership
We look for relationships that outlive a single contract, with aligned interests.
Our role, clearly defined
What we do
- Identify credible opportunities led by subcontractors who hold contracts
- Conduct preliminary due diligence on the company and the contract
- Structure a formal agreement between operator and investor
- Follow execution and report to partners
What we are not
- A mining operator or permit holder
- A bank or lending institution
- An intermediary promising guaranteed returns

Leadership
MKL Mining is led by Me Lionel Mbembo, who carries the company’s vision: putting capital to work for the Congolese companies that keep mines running.
